Former South African bowler Shaun Pollock has expressed his desire to see his country's squad beating Australia in the final to bag their maiden World Cup trophy in order to write a perfect script for the nation's cricket.
South Africa have never won the World Cup since their readmission to international cricket in 1991.
The South African great said that if one wants to write a perfect script for South Africa, then it would be to beat New Zealand in the semi-finals in Auckland and then go on to play the final against Australia and win at Melbourne, Sport24 reported.
Pollock further said that five of the top six South African batsmen have scored hundreds so far and the sublime form of AB de Villiers gives them the edge.
Reflecting on the team's overall performance, Pollock said that they had a low key game against Zimbabwe and then it was a wake-up call against India but since then they have been wonderful.
