The lawyer of the Arunachal student Nido Taniam, Upamanyu Hazarika on Monday said that the post mortem reports of Nido confirmed that his death was due to internal injuries and internal bleeding, as a result of the injuries inflicted on him.
"The post mortem said that he died of internal bleeding due to the injuries inflicted on him. There were around nine internal injuries in his body," said Upamanyu Hazarika, Nido's lawyer.
"We had been asked to suggest immediate measures that we can take from our side. One of which is the recruitment of police personnel from the north east region, as there are only 40 policemen out of the 90,000 police force in Delhi who are from that region," he said.
"We also suggested a helpline number for proper communication facilities for the people from north east as a lot of the times they are not able to explain their issues clearly as they are sometimes not very fluent in Hindi or English like what happened in the case of the fourteen year old Manipuri girl," he added.
He further said that a lot of hate crime shad been taking place in the capital from the past four weeks.
"On Saturday and Sunday similar incidents took place. Two Manipuri guys were walking on the road when two bikers attacked them with iron rods, one of them is in trauma center," said Hazarika.
"Then the rape of the fourteen year old Manipuri girl took place. In the last four weeks Delhi has witnessed a lot of hate crime against the people from the north east region," he added.
