The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has expressed its concern over Indian shelling along the working border near Sialkot, and urged the Nawaz Sharif-led PML-N Government to take notice of it and take steps to counter it.

The Dawn quoted PPP vice president  and Senator Sherry Rehman, as saying that the Sialkot sector was not in a contested area, and hence, firing was completely unacceptable.

Rehman also said Pakistan is hearing "disturbing reports" of infrastructure and homes being destroyed by heavy mortar shelling from the Indian side.

She said the neighbour's muscular behaviour would only fuel extremism in both countries, and for that "we should all have no room for equivocation".
