Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference to be held in Jan next year

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Conference 2016, an annual gathering of overseas Indians, will be held at the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra here from January 8-10, 2016.

The annual event is aimed at bringing together non-resident Indians (NRIs) and persons of Indian origin (PIOs) and help forge stronger links between them and India.

The PBD Conference 2016 is being planned with the objective of developing a new paradigm for engagement with the diaspora over the next decade.

After the inaugural session, PBD Conference 2016 will have a plenary session, with Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Sushma Swaraj, who is also External Affairs Minister, and Cabinet Ministers of Government of India and Chief Ministers of States attending it.

 

Array

As many as 14 Working Groups, consisting 7 -8 overseas experts from all over the world and 2 -3 Indian experts, will then discuss various issues of national importance. The Committee Chairs will finalise and present reports by the next day to the Government. There will be a valedictory session thereafter.
