A record 630 million pounds had reportedly been spent by the English Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window this season.
According to BBC, the previous record was 500 million pounds, which was set in 2008, adding that the transfer window was closed at 23:00 British Summer Time (BST) on Monday.
The report said that among the big signings on Monday is Mesut Ozil who is going from Real Madrid to Arsenal for 42.4 million pounds and Marouane Fellaini who is coming to Manchester United from Everton from 27.5 million pounds.
Deloitte's Sports Business Group, which conducted the study, said that this transfer window consists of new records; a new record for Premier League spending as well as a new world transfer record fee of 85 million pounds for Gareth Bale.
Deloitte further said that due to cash from their latest domestic three-year TV deal, the clubs have resulted in their gross spendings, with the report adding that British company BT has spent 738 million pounds over three years for the rights to 38 live matches a season, while Sky paid 2.3 billion pounds for 116 matches a season.
Deloitte also said that the Premier League spendings has created a gulf in net spending with other European leagues' clubs, many of which have been reliant on selling players in order to spend.
However, the report said that spending in other major European leagues has also been up with Spain's La Liga and Italy's Serie A having gross spending of 335 million pounds each, followed by France Ligue 1 with 315 million pounds and Germany's Bundesliga with 230 million pounds.
