Footballers playing in the English Premier League may be reportedly getting an extra 480 million pounds in wages as a result of a new television deal that will be implemented this summer.

According to the Deloitte Annual Review 2013, previous trends suggest that up to 80 per cent of the additional 600 million pounds received by clubs will go to the pockets of the players, the Independent reports.

Stating that the new television deal will land clubs an additional annual figure of between 25 million pounds and 35 million pounds, the review also said that increasing wages would absorb about 80 per cent (480 million pounds) of the extra revenue.

The review further said that wage bills for all employees at Premier League clubs reached 1.658 billion pounds for the season 2011/12, of which Manchester City was the top payer at 202 million pounds.

The review also said that Swansea City was at bottom of the list at 35 million pounds.
