The English Premier League has reportedly said that it welcomes world football governing body FIFA's decision to set up a task force to look into alternative dates for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
However, Metro.co.uk mentioned that a final decision would be taken over the issue only after the 2014 World Cup in Rio, although it has been confirmed that the 2022 tournament will not be moved away from the Gulf kingdom.
Welcoming the news, a Premier League statement said that it is happy that FIFA is intending to conduct a thorough consultation process involving all of the appropriate stakeholders, including confederations, associations, leagues and clubs.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter said that the task force would take into account the views of medical experts, broadcasters, sponsors and influential European leagues.
