President Pranab Mukherjee condoled loss of lives in the landslides triggered by heavy rains in Malin village of Pune district's Ambegaon tehsil earlier this morning.
In his message to Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan, Mukherjee said, "I am deeply saddened to learn about the landslides triggered by heavy rains in Maharashtra's Pune District, in which a number of persons have lost their lives and many others are feared trapped under the debris. I understand rescue and relief operations are currently underway."
"I call upon the State Government and other authorities to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families, who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured," he added
He ended saying, "Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish speedy recovery to the injured persons".
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had also condoled landslide victims and had directed Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, to rush to Pune to take stock of the situation
Rescue operations are underway, according to the locals ten persons have died and more than a hundred are still trapped.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had sent seven teams for rescue operation
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had also informed earlier that out of the population of 715 in Ambegaon village around 44 houses were swept away and 160 people are feared trapped.
