President Pranab Mukherjee has greeted the nation ahead of Mahavir Jayanti.
In his message on the eve of Mahavir Jayanti, the president said: "On the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, I convey my greetings and good wishes to all my countrymen, and in particular, to the Jain community."
The President also stated, "Lord Mahavira's message of peace and non-violence has enriched our cultural heritage. May his noble teachings continue to inspire us. Let us imbibe his teachings of right faith, right knowledge and right conduct. Let us promote peace by unwaveringly following the path of righteous action. May this occasion bring happiness and prosperity to all." (ANI)
The nation will observe and celebrate the 2613th birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankar or spiritual leader of the Jain Sect, on Sunday (April 13).
