President Ram Nath Kovind performed Yoga asanas (postures) with Suriname President Desire Delano Bouterse on the occasion of 'International Yoga Day'.
Addressing the gathering here, President Kovind praised the beauty and calmness of Suriname, and said he "cannot think of a more appropriate place to practice Yoga."
"Nowhere else in the world today and at no previous International Day of Yoga have two heads of states been co-participants. Friends who do yoga together are true friends and always stay friends," he said.
President Kovind also hailed yoga as a symbiotic relation between one's mind and body.
"Yoga can help all of us,' he added.

International Yoga day is being celebrated around the globe today.
The first International Day of Yoga was observed all over the world on June 21, 2015, where more than 30,000 people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, performed yoga asanas (postures) at Rajpath in New Delhi.
The idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Prime Minister Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27 September 2014.
