President Mukherjee condemns Ataturk airport terror attack

President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack at the Ataturk Airport of Istanbul, Turkey.

"I strongly condemn the terrorist attack on the Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul Turkey yesterday," President Mukherjee said.

He further asserted that the nation reiterates its solidarity with the people of Turkey in this difficult hour.

"Our heart and prayers are with the bereaved families as well as those injured in the attacks," he added.

President Mukherjee also urged the world to remain united in its resolve to fight against the evil forces of terrorism.

At least 36 people have been killed and over 100 others injured in a suicide gun and bomb attack on the airport that took place late last evening.

 

The attackers opened fire at airport guards at the terminal entrance and a shootout erupted before they blew themselves up one by one.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that no Indian casualties have been reported as of now in the deadly suicide attacks that took place at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
