President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Tajikistan on the eve of 24th anniversary of their Independence Day.
In his message to His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, President Mukherjee said, "On behalf of the Government and the people of India and on my own behalf, it gives me great pleasure to convey warm greetings and felicitations to Your Excellency and to the friendly people of Tajikistan on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of your Independence Day."
The President added that India and Tajikistan have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly relations and that the two countries have forged strong bilateral relations based on their shared history.

Mukherjee also said that the recent State Visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tajikistan in July 2015 is a manifestation of India's desire to further deepen our Strategic Partnership with Tajikistan. Early implementation of decisions taken during the visit will add new dynamism to the relationship and open up new avenues of cooperation for the common benefit of the people of both nations.
"On this very special occasion, I wish Your Excellency good health and success as well as peace and prosperity to the people of Tajikistan." The President said.
