President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to the ninth Sikh Guru Teg Bahadur on his martyrdom day saying he still inspires people with his noble legacy and courage.
"Guru Teg Bahadurji was a leader who taught people the importance of oneness of all humankind, selfless service and righteousness and his vision transcended all barriers of caste, creed, race, religion and gender," The President said.
He also called upon people to renew the commitment to peace and non-violence and pledge to strongly oppose forces that seek to spread enmity and terror while asserting that people need to strive to unite all humanity under the umbrella of a common brotherhood.
"I bow to Guru Teg Bahadur on his martyrdom day. He was blessed with courage & the commitment to serve society. He continues to inspire.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tributes to Guru Teg Bahadur saying he was blessed with courage and the commitment to serve society and he continues to inspire.
