President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Deogarh, Jharkhand on April 2 where he will inaugurate the National Skill Exhibition (NSE), Driver Training Institutes (DTIs) and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK).
The President will also lay the foundation stone for building two new DTIs at Deogarh and Ranchi.
The report says the Skill India initiative has always been quite close to the President's heart and in a recent initiative the president has ensured that 1500 skilled employees at the Rashtrapati Bhawan get certified for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY).
Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that the President supports and encourage that we must go full throttle on education and skill development to change from 'low skill, labour-intensive goods and services to providers of more skill-intensive goods and services.
Rudy said his ministry is working towards that vision and he is sure that government's offering will fulfil the aspirations of the youth and give them a direction to grow in their respective career.
According to report, Jharkhand is rapidly gaining recognition for its auto and auto components industry, the sector employs around 70,000 people in the state and contributes roughly 7% to India's GDP and with the launch of 31 multi-skills Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK) it will cater to the needs of youngsters from Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, J&K, Telangana, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. These Kaushal Kendras will be a model centres for training and skilling youths to make them employable.
As per the report, the ministry will also set up camps to undertake the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL program), which is a component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) of the government, in certain trades recognising and certifying existing skill sets of the people.
