The Union Cabinet on Friday recommended dissolution of Andhra Pradesh assembly and extension of the President's rule there beyond 30 April.

This decision was taken after a report was submitted by the Andhra Pradesh governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to the centre about the prevailing situation in the state.

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

President's rule was imposed in Andhra Pradesh on 1 March this year after N Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned as chief minister following Parliament's nod for bifurcation of the state to create Telangana state.
