United States Ambassador to Bangladesh Marcia Bernicat has clearly indicated that there will not be any significant change in Washington's policy post the U.S. presidential election.

"We expect that the Bangladesh-US relationship will remain strong," the Dhaka Tribune quoted Bernicat, as saying.

She was talking to the reporters on Monday afternoon.

Bernicat said Washington is looking to increase US investment in Bangladesh and improve its partnership with Dhaka and help them strengthen democracy.

The ambassador told the media after meeting Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at Setu Bhaban in Dhaka, "We have an election coming up and a new administration will take over from January. So, we are looking to improve our relation."

She believed that "tremendous relation" would be enjoyed by Bangladesh and the new U.S. president.

Quader said following his meeting with Bernicat that the ambassador had assured him that US presidential change will have no effect on the relation between the two countries.
