Football Association (FA) chairman Greg Dyke is of the opinion that it is 'pretty depressing' if Manchester City wins the Premier League with only two English players regularly in their starting lineup.

Dyke said that the scarcity of English players at City, who will claim the title if they win or draw against West Ham United, and Chelsea highlights the problems which his controversial FA commission report was attempting to address.

According to the Guardian, Dyke said that he feels that the Premiership has been brilliant this year, but added that he feels there are probably two regular England players playing at City, Joe Hart and James Milner, and two or three at Chelsea, which is depressing as there would not be that many next year.

The FA chairman, said that he feels the figures last year's figures that the top four clubs averaged 29 percent English players has been reduced to 23 percent this year, which should make them feel worried.

Although Dyke has praised Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers for bringing through three, four, five players at the club, he said that the sport's wider structural problems would persist without drastic action to bring more players through the system.
