Prez congratulates medal winners in Asian Games

President Pranab Mukherjee has congratulated medal winners in the 2014 Asian Games.

These include Priyanka Pawar, Tintu Lukka, Mandeep Kaur and M.R. Poovamma for winning the gold medal in the women's 4 x 400 m relay team event; Sardar Singh, the captain and all members of the Indian hockey team for winning the gold medal, Tejeswini Bai, the captain and all members of her team for winning the gold medal in women's kabaddi; Rakesh Kumar, the captain and all member of his team for winning the gold medal in men's kabaddi; Satish Kumar for winning a bronze medal in the men's super heavy (+ 91kg) in boxing, Vikas Krishan for winning a bronze medal in the men's middle (75 kg) boxing and Inderjeet Singh for winning a bronze medal in the men's shot put.

 

In his message to the captain of Indian men's hockey team, the captain of Indian women's kabaddi team and the captain of Indian men's kabaddi team, President Mukherjee said, "This has become possible only on account of the hard work and determination displayed by the team. The nation is proud of this achievement."

In his individual messages to the other winners, he said, "This is a great achievement and you have done India proud.
