President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday congratulated Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim on her election as the President of Mauritius.
"It gives me great pleasure to extend my sincere felicitations to you on your election as President of the Republic of Mauritius. India and Mauritius share unique and fraternal ties, based on shared history, culture and democratic values," President Mukherjee said in his message to Dr. Gurib-Fakim.
President Mukherjee further said that he looks forward to working with Dr. Gurib-Fakim to further strengthen between India and Mauritius.
Dr. Gurib-Fakim was sworn-in as the first female President of Mauritius on June 5.
