Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the belt his primary school teacher used to discipline him with was now a prized possession at his home.

Ferguson gave credits to his formidable teacher Elizabeth Thomson whose disciplinary beating inspired Ferguson to rise to greatness in his career.

According to the Mirror, Ferguson said that he received the belt as a memento from the nephew of his favorite primary school teacher at Broomloan Road Primary in Glasgow, months after she passed away.

Ferguson, who was feared for his 'hairdryer' treatment of players which failed to live up to his standards said that the 'belt' was in his study and his grandchildren were terrified of it.

Ferguson also said that the three ingredients to Thomson were personality, determination and energy and she would go to every absent pupil's home and warn the parents of the 'kid', the report added

The report added that Ferguson is now a patron of education charity Shine, which offers grants up to 15,000 pounds to raise attainment levels in schools.
