Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, today met a 25 member youth delegation from the Gujjar-Bakkarwal communities of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation led by Major Ajeet Kumar Mehta, is on a tour to Delhi and Agra, for "Sair-e-Watan," as part of 'Operation Sadbhavna' of the Army.
Interacting with the Prime Minister, the youth shared their experiences and the difficulties faced by their communities due to lack of basic infrastructure and employment opportunities. They also conveyed the difficulties they face due to the absence of mobile network connectivity.
The Prime Minister shared his own experiences of lok-sampark (public contact) in the districts of Poonch and Rajouri.
He said he understood the developmental needs and aspirations of the Gujjar-Bakkarwal youth, and assured them that the Government would spare no effort to ensure that these are met. He appreciated their spirit and said the Gujjar-Bakkarwal youth would get their due share in the progress and development of the nation.
