The country is all set to witness a majestic launch of 'Swachh Bharat Mission' by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today on the occasion of 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Before he launches his 'clean India' campaign, Prime Minister will begin his day first by paying floral tributes to Father of the Nation, Mahatama Gandhi at Rajghat. He will also visit Vijay Ghat to pay homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri whose birth anniversary coincides with Mahatma Gandhi.

Anant Khasbardar of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and Bhagyasri Sheth of Rajkot, Gujarat who won the contest for suggesting the logo and the tag line respectively for 'Swachh Bharat Mission', will also be felicitated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.

Khasbardar will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while Bhagyasri will get Rs 25,000.

The logo with spectacles of Mahatma Gandhi with 'Swachh Bharat' written on the two glasses with the bridge of the spectacles in National Tricolour signifies the entire nation uniting to achieve the vision of Mahatma for a 'Clean India.'

The Tagline "Ek Kadam Swachhata Ki Aur" exhorts all citizens to contribute in their own way towards the goal of ' Swachh Bharat'.

Prime Minister Modi has been a keen votary of "Clean India", and has made several speeches on this regard.

Earlier in his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Modi had talked of the Swachh Bharat campaign and called for India to be clean by October 2019, Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary.

Recently, in his Madison Square address to about 20,000-odd Indian Americans, Prime Minister Modi's reference to this issue received a major shot in the arm, with India and the United States both agreeing to work together on this front.
