Prince Harry, who flew the deadly choppers in Afghanistan recently, has volunteered to fight Islamic State terrorists if his regiment is allowed to deploy.
Sources have revealed that Captain Wales, who is regarded as one of the Army's top helicopter pilots, stated that he didn't join the Army to sit behind the desk and he was a soldier not a pen-pusher, the Daily Star reported.
Prince wants to be in the field on operations with his men, as he has been trained as a leader and wants to lead, sources further added.
The 30-year-old prince, who is due to be promoted from captain to major in the next 18 months, could command an Apache squadron if the war in Iraq and Syria continues.
Defence chiefs are preparing to send up to eight Apache helicopter gunships to support beleaguered Iraqi forces in the war against Isis.
Although Prince could face problems with top brass, as he did when he wanted to fight in Iraq in 2007 regarding fears that he could be a high-value target for Iraqi insurgents.
But the deployment of eight Apache helicopters would be a major shift in Britain's military commitment.
