Prince William referred to his wife and child as his "silver lining" in his life, as he recalled his mother Princess Diana's tragic death while he was only 15, at Buckingham Palace recently.

The 32-year-old royal and Prince Harry were addressing a group of young leaders from the Commonwealth, including brothers Rob and Paul Forkan, who had lost their parents as teenagers in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, People magazine reported.

Rob Forkan, now 26, said that the Duke of Cambridge spoke to them with compassion and said that no matter what there was always a silver lining and one should move ahead and carry on with their lives.

The Prince also admired the work by the Forkans brothers, who paid a tribute to their parents by building orphanages in emerging nations, which was funded by selling flip-flops made by their company, Gandys.

At the event, which was also attended by comedy actress Jennifer Saunders and singer Joss Stone, William asked the leaders to believe in themselves and never give up.
