Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matt Prior has vowed to make his return to the team after he axed from the fourth Ashes Test against Australia in Melbourne and was replaced by understudy Jonny Bairstow in yet another changing of the guard.

Prior, ever-present in England's three consecutive Ashes series wins over Australia and the current tour's vice-captain to skipper Alastair Cook, is a veteran of 75 Tests and has not missed a Test since being recalled for England in 2009.

However, Sport24 reports that Prior paid for a woeful series in Australia, averaging just 17.83 and twice missing key stumpings of David Warner in the third Perth Test when the Australia opener made a second-innings century.

Admitting that his form had not been good enough, Prior said that he would be working hard as ever to make sure he is back and performing at the level that he expects of himself so that he can contribute to the team effort once again.
