Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt's sister Priya Dutt attended the promotion of his film 'Policegiri' in Mumbai, and said the film is close to her heart.
"This movie was very special to Sanjay. I just wish you all the very best and all the success for the film," she said.
The cast and crew of upcoming Bollywood action film, 'Policegiri', promoted the action-comedy in the absence of lead actor, Sanjay Dutt; currently in jail for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
Slated to release on July 5, 'Policegiri' would be Dutt's first release after commencement of his jail term.
Sanjay Dutt plays the role of a tough cop in the film, whose mission is to eradicate criminals.
Popular for his role as a do-good gangster in the "Munnabhai" films, Dutt was sentenced to six years jail in 2007 for acquiring illegal weapons from men convicted for the 1993 attacks that killed 257 people.
The Supreme Court reduced the actor's sentence to five years and ordered him back to jail.
The film is a remake of a Tamil blockbuster and stars actor, Prakash Raj as the main villain.
Recounting memories of the shoot, Bollywood actress, Prachi Desai lauded Dutt's professionalism and said, that the trauma of the verdict had failed to affect his performance.
"The last few days of shoot were really exemplary for us because, trust me, all of us, first we were upset but we were taken aback by the kind of spirit that Mr. Dutt showed us. We maybe felt sad during the shoot but he still kept his face on and whenever he shot, trust me whenever you see the promo and if you watch the film, you will never be able to tell which was the song we shot after the verdict came out and which were the scenes we did before and after. He was still the true performer that he is," said Desai.
The actor was the most high profile of 100 people involved in the Mumbai bombings trial, which ended in 12 people receiving the death penalty and lifetime sentences for others.
Projects worth up to 2.5 billion rupees and the fate of several Bollywood movies hang in the balance with Dutt heading back to jail.
The actor has at least three other films in the pipeline; including "Peekay", "Unglee" and a remake of the 1973 hit "Zanjeer".
