Pro-democracy Protest leaders in Hong Kong would ballot their followers on whether they should accept the government's offer or end their protests.

The government offers to set up a platform for discussing reforms and to report to Beijing on the protests, which the leaders had earlier rejected.

According to the BBC, the protesters said a strong show of support for this stance would help them in their negotiations with the government.

The protests in Hong Kong began in September.

Demonstrators are protesting against Beijing's decision to vet candidates in the 2017 Hong Kong elections. They have blocked parts of the city and have been demanding a fully free election.
