Cornered Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday appeared hesitant while answering queries relating to gang rapes in Uttar Pradesh, and said that investigations are being conducted.
"You do your work, and I am doing my work," Mulayam said.
"Investigations are underway. The accused have been arrested and action is being taken against them," he added.
He was responding to widespread criticisms of UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's recent statement that Google shows cases of rapes in other places too.
"Incidents are not happening in just UP. If you go online and check you will see where else such incidents occur. Incidents in UP are being given special attention," Akhilesh had said.
Two cousins, aged 14 and 15, went missing from their homes last Tuesday and were found hanging from a mango tree the next day, leading to an expression of outrage nation-wide.
