The rain-curtailed Test match between South Africa and Bangladesh has lurched towards a tame draw after bad weather washed out entire fourth day's play without a ball being bowled on Friday at Chittagong.

Bangladesh were bundled out for 326, taking a 78-run first innings lead before the visitors had wiped away their deficit in the second innings on day three of the first Test.

South Africa were 61-0 with openers Dean Elgar and Stiaan van Zyl remaining unbeaten on their respective scores of 28 and 33 respectively.

Earlier on Thursday, Dale Steyn inched closer to the 400-Test wicket mark as he remained one short of reaching the milestone.
