After losing the match by 281 runs to Australia in the first Test at SuperSport Park, in Centurion, South African captain Graeme Smith said that he made a blunder at the time of the toss.

Smith, who won the toss on the day of the first test match against the Aussies, had chosen to bowl first, giving Australia full advantage.

According to Sports 24, the Proteas decided to bowl first based on statistics suggesting it would be more difficult to bat first.

Smith said that now in hindsight, the team would have definitely made a different decision, but the team made the decision that it felt was best.
