South African coach Russell Domingo has warned all-rounder Jacques Kallis that he cannot be constantly rested for one-day internationals and then expect to be picked for the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

According to Sport24, the absence of the stalwart in the ICC Champions Trophy and the recent tour to Sri Lanka is seen by many as the biggest reason for the Proteas' recent failures in ODIs, especially the increasingly fragile batting line-up.

The report further said that although Kallis withdrew from the Champions Trophy citing 'personal reasons', he later said that he felt that he needed some time out of the game with a view to extending his international career by taking a break and staying free of niggles.

Set to have talks with Kallis about his future in the one-day international arena, Domingo said that Kallis must fight for his place in the Proteas team if he wants to play at the next World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, adding that Kallis could not expect special treatment despite his talent.
