South African cricket fans believe Proteas all-rounder Jacques Kallis must either play regularly in one day internationals, or he must retire.
According to Sport24, the 38-year old Kallis, who missed the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy for personal reasons, didn't feature in either the ODI series in Sri Lanka or the one against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates and has only featured in four of the Proteas' past six ODIs, registering knocks of 50 and 7 against Pakistan and 10 and 10 against India.
Until he played recently against Pakistan, Kallis had been absent from the Proteas' ODI team for 21 months, the report said.
A majority of fans believed that Kallis should just focus on Test cricket, while almost a third of those polled said the Proteas stalwart would have to be in-form and playing regularly to stand any chance of making the squad, the report added.
Only 15 percent believed Kallis was indispensable to the Proteas batting line-up, the report further said.
