Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely here today ridiculed the government's decision to increase railway price.

At a protest staged by Congress workers in New Delhi under Lovely's influence, he criticized Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying, " The way they have increased rail fare is affecting poor and middle class people, it will increase price of other goods also like food, coal, etc. People expected reduction in inflation from this government but they back- stabbed them. They will never be forgiven. These are not good days. It is easy to give lectures but difficult to implement, BJP should be ashamed of itself."

"They made promises and mentioned them in their election manifesto also but didn't implement them, we will continue to protest till the people are not relieved," he added.

Meanwhile residents of Delhi also expressed discontentment over the sudden hike in rail fare.

"It's a very saddening decision, the sudden increase in the fare is unjust, it will lead to further rise in inflation," said Satvinder, a local resident.

Another resident Ajay added that this decision will give rise to many other problems.

The government has increased rail passenger fares by 14.2 percent and freight rates by 6.5 percent, which has led to an outcry by the opposition parties.

The decision resulted in various protests across the country demanding the government to take back their decision.
