Protesters on Thursday vandalized the Christ Church School in the Dum Dum area of Kolkata, following the death of a 10-year-old girl who had been allegedly ragged by her seniors.

The protestors ransacked the school, damaging computers and furniture, and demanded action against the school authorities.

Oindrila Das, a student of class 6, died on Wednesday, eight days after her seniors locked her in the bathroom for not giving them Rs.100.

According to reports, she fell ill and complained to her parents, after which she was admitted to a nursing home. Oindrila's family said doctors found nothing physically wrong and released her from the nursing home on Monday.

Her parents alleged that she went into a depression following the ragging incident. Her parents also suspect wrong treatment by the doctor, who reportedly gave her an injection on Tuesday. Admitted to a hospital last night, she was declared brought dead.

Oindrila's parents have since filed a police complaint against the school.
