French champions Paris Saint-Germain have clinched a 3-1 victory over leading Premier League side Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes.

The visitors were without a key attacking element of their own for this game with Samuel Eto'o sidelined due to injury, although manager Jose Mourinho preferred Andre Schuerrle to Spaniard Fernando Torres in the attack.

According to Sport24, despite an early strike by Ezequiel Lavezzi for the hosts, an Eden Hazard penalty gave Chelsea a gleam of hope in the match, although a David Luiz own goal and a solo strike from Javier Pastore right at the death left PSG firmly in control of the tie.

Argentine Lavezzi, who controlled on his chest before firing into the net off the underside of the bar on the half-volley, scored his sixth goal in PSG's last 10 games, the report added.
