Paris St-Germain secured their third consecutive Ligue 1 title with a hard-fought 2-1 away win over Montpellier.

France midfielder Blaise Matuidi put PSG ahead in the 17th minute before Argentina striker Ezequiel Lavezzi doubled the lead eight minutes later.

Montpellier staged a strong fightback as forward Anthony Mounier pulled one back for the home side shortly before half-time.

However, Laurent Blanc's men held on to become the fourth French club to lift the trophy for the third time in a row, the BBC reported.

After winning the Coupe de la Ligue and Ligue 1 title, PSG have now their sights on clinching the Coupe de France title on 30 May in order to become the first team to complete domestic treble.
