C24 carrying a navigation satellite lifted off from the Sriharikota space station and was launched successfully into the intended orbit on Friday.

"Spacecraft injected successfully. PSLV C24 injects IRNSS 1B into the intended orbit with a remarkable precision," confirmed an ISRO tweet.

This is the second navigation satellite of the seven satellites that will constitute the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS).

Once completed, the IRNSS system will offer navigational services, for both civilian and defense purposes, in India and also 1,500 km beyond its borders.
