The Punjab and Haryana High Court will on Monday hear the molestation and death case of a 13-year-old girl in Punjab's Moga district.

The court has taken a suo motu cognisance of a letter written to it on the incident, in which girl died after being allegedly thrown off a bus by her molesters.

Meanwhile, the logjam in the Moga incident has ended as the victim's family members cremated her body last evening after the postmortem.

The cremation was held at the girl's native village Landikay in Moga district under heavy police cover as the crowd shouted anti-government slogans at the cremation ground.

The victim's family has been given Rs. 20 lakh as compensation.

The 13-year-old girl died after she and her mother were allegedly pushed off a moving bus on the Moga-Bathinda highway for resisting a molestation bid on April 29.

The incident led to widespread outrage and a ban on the Orbit Company's buses by the Punjab Government.

The bus in which the crime took place reportedly belonged to Orbit Transport Company, owned by Orbit Aviation Pvt Ltd, which is co-owned by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

The police have impounded the bus.
