Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik carved a sand sculpture on a beach in Puri through which he sent across an appeal for the safe release of abducted Nigerian young school girls.
On April 14, over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls were abducted at gunpoint.
"I have appealed through sand art that Nigerian girls have been kidnapped. It is a matter of grief that in our world, school- going children and girls have been taken by the terrorists. So, through the sand art, I want to appeal to the terrorists that they are very innocent. This is a matter of acute grief. They should be released as soon as possible. Their mothers is also craving for them," said Patnaik.
Various art patrons were found admiring the sand art.
"Those who were kidnapped should be released. Every mother would like to see her children released. And, that is why this contemporary creation has come out at the right time. This gives a message to the society along with appeals for the children' release," said Kolkata-based art patron Dipashree Dutta.
