Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused the West of wanting to weaken his country as the Russian economy crashes down following western trade sanctions, falling oil prices and crumbling rubble.
Putin warned Russians to brace themselves for a severe recession as the economy faces a crisis.
Putin said that his annexation of Crimea was "sacred" and compared it to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem which his troops will not leave, reported News.com.au.
Putin's speech came just hours after the police waged gun battles with Islamic State who attacked Chechnya's capital leaving 20 dead.
He also said that Russia is attacked by countries whenever they think that Russia is becoming strong.
