Defence expert Qamar Agha on Friday named the waving of ISIS flags in Srinagar was nothing but a publicity stunt of the Hurriyat.
"Pakistan's interest is to keep the issue of Kashmir alive in the media. So, in order to attract attention, they are using these people. We all know how openly the Hurriyat Conference is operating in the valley," said Agha.
Agha called such events as an 'attempt to disrupt the peace and stability of the valley,' and added, "These people are doing it at the behest of Pakistan backed by the Hurriyat Conference. They are doing it to embarrass India."
Agha traced the problem of Pakistan with Kashmir's peace to the General Elections of 2014.
"In the Lok Sabha election last year, 75 percent of the people of Jammu and Kashmir turned out to vote. It showed their faith in democracy and in India. So, Pakistan and its proxies in the valley are trying to disrupt this peace. They will not succeed, as the people are sick and tired of this," Agha added.
On Friday, ISIS and LeT flags were waved near the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.
