2022 World Cup communications director Nasser Al Khater has said that the tournament would take place as planned in Qatar and the country has nothing to hide over allegations of corruption during the bid process.

Al Khater said that Qatar has held itself to the highest ethical standards, adding that they are confident of how they have behaved and are not worried.

Al Khater said that the World Cup would take place in Qatar and that his country would comply with the FIFA investigation into possible bid corruption but stressed that the nation has nothing to hide, Gulf News reported.

He said that Qatar is part of the investigation and so is Russia (2018), adding that the whole process is part of that. It is unfortunate that people single out Qatar every time they discuss it, he further added.

Al Khater also distanced himself from disgraced former FIFA executive Mohammad Bin Hammam, saying that he was not representing the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee in the bid process.
