Qatar's FIFA World Cup organisers have said that the recent troubles within world football's governing body would not impact the country's preparations for hosting of the 2022 World Cup.

The statement came after Sepp Blatter announced his resignation as FIFA president and ex-FIFA official Chuck Blazer admitted that he accepted bribes for World Cup votes.

A direct statement issued by Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy said that recent events at FIFA would not impact on their preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The committee said it was "ahead of schedule" as work had begun on five of the stadiums which will be used during the tournament, Sport24 has reported.

They also said that the country has been facing criticism ever since they won the rights to bring the tournament to the Middle East for the first time.
