Harry Redknapp has resigned as Queens Park Rangers manager, citing the need for immediate knee replacement surgery as the reason behind his decision.
Redknapp, who assumed the charge as manager of Rangers in November 2012, said that he needed immediate surgery, adding that if he couldn't give 100 percent, it was better for someone else to take over, the BBC reported.
Reflecting on his career at QPR, Redknapp said that he had a fantastic time at QPR, adding that his relationship with chairman Tony Fernandes had been one of the highlights of his footballing career and he wish the club every success, the report added.
Redknapp added that he was confident that QPR would survive in the Premier League this year.
Currently, Rangers faces the prospect of being relegated to the second tier as it is languishing at 19th spot in the Premier League table.
