'Queen' drummer Roger Taylor has claimed that Sacha Baron Cohen was dropped from the Freddie Mercury biopic because the band thought that he's 'too funny' for the role.

According to a UK publication, 'The Dictator' star had been confirmed to play Mercury in the film but pulled out over "creative differences," Metro.co.uk reported.

Taylor told the publication that the band felt that the 41-year-old actor wasn't right for the role.

Taylor asserted that the group didn't want the film to be a joke and they wanted the audience to be moved.

It was previously reported that Daniel Radcliffe was being rolled in for the part after he impressed Hollywood bosses with his portrayal of gay poet in the movie 'Kill Your Darlings'.
