Ardent fans of 'One Direction' star Zayn Malik are outraged that a racist song accusing the singer for the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in September 2001 in the US, has gone viral.

The song, called 'Zayn Did 9/11', shows Malik's silhouette superimposed over a photo of the 9/11 attacks, the Mirror reported.

The group's loyal admirers came to the teen icon's rescue and held up signs, with 'Zayn's Not Racist' written on them, at the band's most recent gig.

They have also started an online petition to have the hugely offensive track removed from iTunes that is still available for download for just 79p.

The star had earlier admitted that he had deleted his Twitter account after he received racist messages from sick-minded trolls.
