Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday appealed to the NDA Government to work for the welfare of farmers, labourers and the poor.

Addressing a rally in his constituency, Amethi, Rahul told the gathering how the Narendra Modi-led government had quashed the UPA Government's decision to build a food park for the farmers' benefit.

"Farmers and labourers give their blood and sweat to the country. When a government is made in India it should be made by the people; it should be made up by the farmers, labourers, the poor. I appeal to the government to work for the welfare of everyone," he said.

The Congress scion accused the BJP government of taking revenge by calling off the construction of the food park.

"The BJP destroyed the dream of the food park last year. They did it to get revenge against me. And I invite them to take revenge because it only benefits me, it gives me more energy. But they should not harm farmers, labourers and the poor," said Rahul.

Rahul had laid the foundation stone of the food park in Amethi in October 2013. But the project was shelved by Centre after it failed to meet certain criteria in July 2014.
