Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said his opposition to Narendra Modi is not about the individual, but the ideology represented by the BJP's prime ministerial candidate.

"It is not about an individual, but he (Modi) represents a ideology, and that ideology is an exclusionary ideology. It is the ideology that makes people fight with each other," Gandhi said when asked about his views on Narendra Modi at a press conference after Congress' election manifesto for the 2014 polls was released.

"Modiji represents a thought process which is exclusionary, which pits people against each other," he said

"Modiji represents an ideology, making one fight with another, it is destructive for the nation, every Congress person will fight that ideology," he added.

On a separate question on whether he agreed with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's view that Narendra Modi will be a disaster for India, Rahul said, "The Prime Minister is a wise man and on most issues, I bow to his wisdom and support him.
