The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday said Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's visit to Telangana would benefit the Congress and help it to make a comeback to power subject to its leaders and workers putting in the hard work required.

"I believe that if Rahul Gandhi works hard like this, then the Congress can make a comeback. There is no harm in trying and if he is going on a 'padyatra' or a visit to Telangana, it will benefit the Congress," senior NCP leader Tariq Anwar told ANI.

Rahul Gandhi will be meeting the family members of famers, who committed suicide in the state and also address farmers' woes. He will also undertake a 15-kilometre-long padyatra here.

At least 700 farmers have killed themselves in Telangana due to agrarian distress.

Last month, the Congress vice-president conducted similar padyatras to address farmers' issues in Punjab and Maharashtra.
