Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday accused Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi of misleading people by blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre for scrapping the mega food park project in Amethi.

"Today, he has tried to mislead not just the House and his people, but to cover up for his wrongdoings. He is trying to blame the government and mislead his constituency by saying that the BJP Government has scrapped this [mega food park] project," Badal told ANI.

"The food park was allotted to Amethi in 2010 and the guideline says that the food park has to become operational within two years. But unfortunately, from 2010 to date, there was not a single brick that had been put over there; no work had started on the ground," she added.

Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani earlier in the day pointed out that though Rahul Gandhi has served as a three-time MP from Amethi, yet the people of Amethi have never seen the food park project take shape and are hence questioning the Congress's intentions.

"The Food Park which was sanctioned in 2010 never took shape when the Congress was in power at the Centre. Why is it that the project was delayed for over four years while the Congress was in government at the Centre? It is the answer that even the people of Amethi are asking their MP who has sought their help for the past ten years," Irani

said.

Earlier in the day, the Gandhi scion launched an attack on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP Government in the Lok Sabha over the scrapping of the mega food park project and accused the Prime Minister of practicing politics of revenge and not the 'politics of change' which he had promised.
